Youth Art Month 2018: Teacher Lesson Spotlight

During the month of March, Youth Art Month, Louisiana art educators went social and shared what their classes were doing!

Youth Art Month is a month in celebration for artists, art students, and art educators. Youth Art Month is about being involved, creating, and sharing art with your peers and your community.


Lafayette High School

  • Their students began experimenting with watercolor. Their project was to create landscapes and finish them off with watercolor.
David Thibodeaux STEM Magnet Academy

Many students are working on independent art projects in their advanced art class. Students also sent positive messages to show love and support for the faculty, students, friends, and families at Parkland High School. What great work these students are doing!

St. Thomas More Catholic High School
  • Students were recreating and cropping master works in acrylic

Southside High School
  • Students took inspiration from the machinery and tools in their Ag woodworking lab to create these charcoal drawings.
Edgar Martin Middle School
  • Students had a free draw in celebration of Youth Art Month on a random puzzle piece. The pieces were reassembled to create a large project to also celebrate Pi Day.
